Ryan Tolhurst

Ryan Tolhurst is an 11-year-old grade 6 student at Grandview Elementary School. He is an A-B student whose favourite subjects are gym, math and science, and he plays on every school sports team. Recently Ryan and a schoolmate placed 1st place in a junior boys doubles badminton tournament in the first round, and then came in 5th place for Brant County. An amazing accomplishment for the boys and their school.

At school, Ryan has been awarded the student of the month for Perseverance – for keeping on trying, even in the face of difficulty or adversity, he does not give up. He has also been awarded the student of the month for Integrity – for being honest and kind, working hard and holding himself accountable, he has a positive attitude and an interest in learning.

Ryan has also played basketball with the CYO Basketball Association since he was 5 years old and has been on two championship teams winning an MVP award.

Ryan’s first season playing with the Bisons U10 in the Spring of 2022, he was awarded the most improved player. Fall of 2023 season in U12 Ryan was awarded the Jack Slater Memorial Award for Heart & Hustle, an award that goes to an athlete that works hard before and after practice, never gives up, and puts in the effort for his team. To receive any memorial award is very special.

Last winter in the football off season Ryan committed to working out 3 days a week at the Athlete Farm training centre where he worked on strength and conditioning for the upcoming football season. Ryan is currently headed into his last season in the U12 division.
