Closing out the Celebration of Youth Sports Appreciation Week

On behalf of the Brantford Sports Council I wanted to thank the participating youth sport organizations for their support in the 2nd annual 2022 Youth Sports Appreciation Week.

The program allowed all to showcase their youth sports groups and recognize all those that contribute to sport in our community.

The Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts provided the opportunity for a larger audience. that included more athletes, teams, coaches, officials and community partners.

Planning is now underway for next years programs, we look forward to following up with all and recapping on this year’s event and get everyone’s feedback.

While the March 12 date was the only one available this year we are looking to secure a date in April next year that is best suited for all groups.

The overall objectives are to support the development of youth sports, promote the importance of youth sports, celebrate sport achievements and the value of volunteers.

The balance of 2022 is important for all as we work to recover from the past 2 years. We need to continue to build a strong framework at the grassroots level to ensure we have a solid base to build on that will provide our young athletes the opportunities to advance their development in sports and help to build their futures.

Sports remains the catalyst that brings people together and is a key element in the social fabric of our community. Brantford has a rich history in sports at every level, our community spirit is shown through the commitment and dedication of all the coaches, parents, community partners and everyone who volunteers their time for the betterment of young athletes.

There are a number of initiatives underway and focus will be on moving the ball forward on several identified fronts in the coming weeks and months.

We all have a role to play in the development of youth sports and we can all continue to make a difference in our community.

We look forward to your continued input and support in all we do.
