Brantford Sports Council Launches AFTER HOURS Program

The Brantford Sports Council launched the first in a series of After Hours Meetings on August 25 at the Brantford Golf and Country Club

The Brantford Sports Council has been developing a variety of programs over the past several months that will benefit our sports organizations and all our community partners as we continue to expand our base as the “VOICE FOR SPORTS” in our community.

Our new website is dynamic and interactive; designed to connect members and community partners in a more efficient and effective way to exchange information through one single portal to navigate and communicate. Provides the ability to connect all groups at one point of contact. A portal that allows all to best navigate and connect directly and exchange specific questions eliminating multiple emails, calls and follow-ups.

Designed to assist organizations, companies, employee groups, and families to effectively participate and navigate the availability of sport / recreation and related activities in our community.

Overview
The majority of our sport groups focused on Return to Play over the spring and summer, ramping up and preparing for games and league play was a major challenge for all in rebuilding their organizations. This was not unique to Brantford, all municipalities were impacted.

It was not as simple as pushing a RESET button and all would be back to normal. In addition to securing registrations the recruitment of volunteers continues to be a challenge. Our overall objective remains to support and promote the development of youth sport and recreation in our community.

Centre of Excellence / Hierarchy of Sports
Brantford has a rich history in sport at every level. We are fortunate to have a number of accomplished athletes and individuals who continue as Ambassadors and role models in our continued development of youth at all levels. We will continue to build on Brantford’s designation as the
Tournament Capital of Ontario (TCO).

Hierarchy of Sport
Key in the development of the hierarchy of sport is to ensure we have a solid base at the grassroots level to build on. The base in most communities
has been eroded over the last couple of years and most groups are focusing on it.

A series of initiatives for physical development and fundamentals of fitness building at all levels throughout the identified sports hierarchy.

  • Programs that include all aspects of physical, health, social elements in moving through the various levels.
  • Provide support of considerations for youth and families in sport engagement and selection.
  • Provide programs to develop habits and practices to succeed in sport and life.

A series of Seminars, Workshops, and information Clinics will be available. All will be provided by those that have been through and engaged in the process at all levels across a broad range of related topics sharing their experience and guidance.

There are a number of ways to participate in the development of youth sport and recreation in our community.
