Celebrating Claire Scheffel and Suzanne Paulins
Brantford has long been a city where sport thrives — from local gyms and pools to national and international arenas. That spirit was on full display during this year’s Youth Sport Appreciation Week, as we proudly welcomed messages from two Olympic-level figures who continue to inspire our community.
Although they couldn’t attend in person, Claire Scheffel and Suzanne Paulins graciously sent video messages to be part of our Sport Awards Program. Their stories and support remind us all of the lasting power of sport — both on and off the podium.
Claire Scheffel brought home Bronze in Artistic Swimming at the 2024 Summer Games. A proud Brantford resident, Claire represents the talent, dedication, and passion that begins in local programs and can take you all the way to the world stage.
Suzanne Paulins, also from Brantford, serves as the CEO of Swimming Canada. She played a leading role in organizing and supporting all Canadian swim events at the most recent Olympic Games. Her leadership continues to shape the future of aquatic sport across the country.
We are honoured to have their voices included in this celebration. Their achievements are a testament to what is possible when youth have access to strong grassroots programs and community support.
Please join us in congratulating Claire and Suzanne for their outstanding contributions and lasting impact on sport in Brantford and beyond.
